Track and field at Panhandle High School has become a thing and that thing is good. So good, that they won the UIL 2A girls state championship last year.
COVID kept them from winning two championships in a row, but this group of girls are motivated to give their best shot at repeating. The strength of the team is speed. They have one of the fastest long sprinters in the state with Texas Tech commit Macklynn Land and six other girls who will help load three relays with expectations of scoring a ton of points.
We talked with the girls about their chances of repeating as state champions, their focus heading into the state meet, and their idea of fun in Austin and in Panhandle.
