Last year, Abby Elmore qualified for the UIL 3A Track and Field State Championships in the high jump and the 100 meter hurdles. This year, she is headed back to Austin in both events, but she is also competing in the shot put competition and the 4x400 meter relay.
Despite what may or may not happen this upcoming weekend, sophomore year is already vastly different than last year for the Gunter track and field athlete. She won the Region 2-3 high jump title with a jump of 6 feet. That 6-0 performance tied her for the top jump in Texas and the height is good enough to tie her as the US No. 2 jump in the country.
Elmore will compete with confidence in her abilities in Austin, but she will not overlook any of her competition. By her own admission, she hopes to have a great meet, but she knows she'll be facing the best of the best in Texas.
