Klein junior long and triple jumper India Alix has made some big time improvements within the last year of her track and field career.
Not qualifying for the UIL state meet last season wasn't necessarily a good feeling, but it wasn't detrimental either. What it ended up being was motivational.
Alix poured her time into her training and by her own admission, it's basically all she does. That led to PRs of 19-10.25 in the long jump and 40-4.25 in the triple jump. To go along with her marked improvement is now the achievement of qualifying for next weekend's UIL State Track and Field Championships.
Alix will compete in both jump events; not only is she considerably better this season, but so is her competition. The girls jumps are deeper with more girls who are jumping over 19 feet and 40 feet.
Alix sat down with MileSplit to discuss her season and her outlook on the upcoming state meet.
