At the Region 4-6A Championship finals, King Grimm ran two PRs. One of the races was one he had been working hard on for a couple of years -- the 400m. He ran a 48.83 to finish third in the region, just missing making it to the state meet.
However, it was his new found event, the 800, where he first struck last weekend and making a dream come true. The Round Rock McNeil senior was runner-up at the regional championships where he was narrowly out leaned by Converse Judson winner Santos Flores.
Grimm's 1:52.72 was nearly a two second PR and gives him a realistic goal of either winning the state championship or coming away with a medal.
Competing in his hometown for the UIL 6A Track and Field State Championships has been something Grimm has envisioned for a long time. After listening to his coaches about giving the 800m a try this year, he will now end his career by living out his dream.
