Summer Creek senior Jade Johnson is returning to the UIL 6A state meet. She competed in the triple jump competition last year after winning the Region 3-6A Championships.
Johnson didn't have the performance she would have liked to have last year, which only motivated her to the point where this year. Johnson not only heads into the state meet as the top jumper in Texas, but she is also the top triple jumper in the nation with her 42-3.5 winning jump from the 2022 Texas Relays.
The triple jump isn't the only event that Johnson will compete in this upcoming weekend. Her long jumping has also been largely improved due to her dissatisfaction from last year's state meet. She has a 19-7 PR this season and finishing in second at the region meet which will give her an additional event.
