With 5 laps remaining Bass was still your leader with Stuart in her hip pocket. They pulled away from the chase pack and had a commanding lead. Stuart remained tight with Bass as they continued to run their race to see who would win the gold medal.
In the 3rd lap Liana Navarro, a Sophomore from La Feria pulled away from the pack to secure 3rd place.
At the bell, Bass began to pull away from Stuart and never looked back. Bass, a Junior, won 1st place with a time of 10:43.89, Stuart finished in 2nd place with a time of 10:51.71, and Navarro clinched the bronze medal with 11:10.09.
