With the race a quarter of the way through, Micah Swann of Athens led the way with a split of 1:04.80 and was followed closely by Hudson Bennett.
Bennett, from Burnet, swapped places with Swann for the next lap as both runners were neck and neck. Sophomore Angel Sanchez out of Fort Worth Diamond-Hill Jarvis trailed behind in third place up until the final lap.
Sanchez stepped on the gas for a 58 second final lap to take the victory with a time of 4:18.86. Bennett crossed with a time of 4:19.83. Swann finished third with a final time of 4:25.07.
