Emily Smith wins the S.A.G.U. Private School Warm-up

In 2022, Emily Smith Colleyville of Colleyville Covenant Christian won her third-consecutive TAPPS 4A State XC title, but the junior's road to remain on top hasn't been easy. After suffering a stress fracture post the 2022 track & field season, Smith, by her own accord, fell into a bad spot: apathy bordering on depression.
Her father's tough love pulled her out of her own self-pity. Chasing her sister, freshman Sophie, a rising TAPPS star, provided inspiration. Emily changed her diet and her training regiment, and slowly her body reshaped and her mind recharged. She went on to capture her third straight 4A XC title, and now she's taking a well-deserved break before embarking on a track & field season in which she'll share the track with her sister, her self-proclaimed best friend.
