Armando, Anthony Morales Battle Alexis Rodriguez At RGV MOC

Armando Morales (L), Anthony Morales C), and Alexis Rodriguez (R) finished 1, 2, 3 at the RGVCCCA Meet of Champions

Last week at the Hoka McNeil Inv. the top runners in the Rio Grande Valley showed the rest of the state that they are those dudes!

Edinburg North senior Alexis Rodriguez finished fourth in the Gold Boys race with a time of 15:25. The La Feria twin sensation of Armando Morales and Anthony Morales went 15:31 and 15:32 for sixth and seventh places in the same Gold Boys race.

Yesterday, the three top South Texas runners dialed up another exciting race between the them at the Rio Grand Valley Coaches Association Meet of Champions.

The twins turned the tables and went 1-2 to take the first two spots. Armando got the win in 15:21 over Anthony and his 15:23 finish. Rodriguez finished up for third in 15:29.

The Morales twins aren't the only runners with La Feria uniforms who are running well this year; fellow sophomore Nathan Salinas is on a hot streak as well. Salinas finished fourth behind Rodriguez in 15:47 four fourth place.

Last fall, La Feria was a UIL 4A state meet qualifier and looks to be in the hunt not just for another state meet berth, but a podium finish could be in the cards.

The rest of the team was up for the challenge and helped score 95 points to top Harlingen for the RGVCCCA Meet of Champions title.

The Canyon Boys are the defending state champs and are the heavy favorites to repeat. They did not graduate a single one their top five runners, however one of the top runners is deciding to  not run for the school this year.

That opens the door for La Feria to pose a serious challenge to possibly add a state title the the MOC trophy they just won.
