I've personally known about Bayleigh Minor's talent since her days of youth track and field. The momentum and buzz around her abilities can be compared to those of other youth superstar legends like Raevyn Rogers, Athing Mu, and Brandon Miller.
The first two years of high school, Minor has been able to find her footing with performances that rank with some of the best talent nationally, but she hadn't pushed through to the top echelon. That is partly due to her focusing on being a two-sport star as well as being motivated in her roles in helping her teams win.
Track and field may come natural due to her father/coach Deon Minor being one of Texas' best prep runners of all-time, a NCAA champion, and a former world record holder. What is clear is that she is now becoming one of the best in her own right.
2024 Carl Lewis Inv. Girls 400m Final heat 3

This weekend, the Fort Bend Christian Academy junior crept closer to accolades similar to those of her father when she ran 53.05 to win 400m at the the Carl Lewis Inv. over Faith Franklin (Harlingen) who finished second with a time of 53.74.
With those performances, Minor and Franklin join Bailey Lear (Frisco Heritage) who ran 53.20 in 2018 and Courtney Okolo (Carrollton Smith) who ran 53.21 on an oversized track in 2012 as the only Texas girls to run under 54 seconds indoors.
Despite not even being in tip-top track fitness, Minor currently has the fastest time in the country at the indoor 400m distance this season. Her 53.05 is also the fastest indoor 400m ever recorded by a Texas high school girl.
For more context to how fast Minor ran, she now ranks as the 15th fastest high school girl all-time at the indoor 400m.
Look out for what may come when club volleyball ends and Minor's track fitness picks up.
