Yierra Flemings Runs 42.74 In 300H To Lead All Qualifiers

Yierra Flemings clears a hurdle in the girls 300H

Cameron Yoe senior Yierra Flemings is months away from enrolling at Texas A&M, but there are a couple of things the Texas A&M track and field signee already has a handle on. One, are the school colors and two, are her winning ways.

Although it was just a preliminary race, Flemings ran and hurdled her way to the top qualifying time going into Saturday's finals when she crossed the line in 42.74.

She balanced going from 100m and 200m races and then from the long jump runway to the track for the 300H. She would then end up back at the long jump runway for the finals.

Despite the fatigue put on her legs up to that point, Flemings still mustered enough energy to follow up races where several girls before her had taken turns running a new meet record.

That was all put to rest when Flemings' momentarily meet record lit up the scoreboard.

A total of nine finalists ran under 45-seconds on Friday to set up what will no doubt be an entertaining race on Saturday where the meet record could possibly be lowered once again.
