Elizabeth Leachman Shatters Record Books At Nike Indoor Nats

- - -

Whatever is left that Elizabeth Leachman has yet to accomplish, you can put it on her calendar. I'm willing to bet she'll get around to eventually getting it done.

This morning, she ran the two mile at the Nike Indoor Nationals coming away with the national championship.

The Boerne Champion sophomore won the event in an emphatic fashion. At the start of the race, she took a moderate approach, choosing to sit back in the pack where she admitted things got kind of physical.

It wasn't until right before the mile that she moved to the front of the race, coming through with an approximate split of 5:05.

Leachman was all gas from that point, she took point of the race and never looked back. Her second mile split was 4:41, faster than her personal best in the open mile/1600m.

To go along with the win, Leachman ran a meet record, facility record, as well as a sophomore national record.

She will compete in the 5K later this weekend.
