Dallas Lincoln Junior Roy Hughes Wins UIL 4A Boys 300H Title

2025 UIL 4A boys 300-meter hurdles

Jasiah Rivera (Kingsville King) had thoughts of going back-to-back in the 4A Boys 300mh, but a stutter-step at the sixth hurdle opened the door for the rest of the field.

Roy Hughes (Dallas Lincoln) happily took the opportunity presented and took the lead over the final two hurdles to take the victory in 36.58. He entered the meet with the fastest seed and made it stick.

Despite being the defending State champion, Rivera was only seeded fourth heading into the race. He started quickly and was looking in great shape before the stutter. However, he still held on for the silver medal in a time of 37.17.

Steven Schwartz (Sealy) also managed to break 38s to take the bronze medal in 37.82.
