Cy Springs Runs And Passes Baton To 6A Boys 4x100 Relay Win

2025 UIL 6A Boys 4x100 Relay

As usual, the UIL 6A boys 4x100m relay promised to be one full of speed. Last year, Humble Atascocita set a national record of 39.14 and multiple teams broke 40 seconds. This year, the times were not as fast, but the racing was just as exciting.

Eight of the nine teams entered the meet with top times under 41 seconds and all nine teams eclipsed that in the race. After an even opening leg, Cypress Springs had a slight advantage at the second exchange behind a strong leg from Kam Roberson. Running in Lane 8, Cypress Springs could not see much of their competition and their main threat came from DeSoto in Lane 6.

Those two led entering the final handoff, but others were waiting to strike with anchor legs such as Brayden Williams (Duncanville) and Tate Taylor (Harlan) poised for the finish. While Williams and Taylor gained ground, they could not make up enough to hit the medal stand. Instead, Cypress Springs held on to win in 40.06 with a strong anchor leg by Chinweoke Onwuchekwa and DeSoto maintained second place with a 40.15 finish.

Houston Lamar, the team with the top time entering the meet, grabbed third place in 40.30. The top six teams all ran 40.53 or faster.
