2025 UIL 6A Boys 4x200 Relay
The promise of a great race loomed large in the UIL 6A Boys 4x200m relay with eight teams owning times faster than 1:25.00 heading into the race.
In the early going it was Katy Mayde Creek and DeSoto holding the advantage. A bobbled hand-off slowed down DeSoto and kept them off the podium. Mayde Creek led heading into the final 200m, but were quickly overtaken by Killeen Shoemaker's Michael Bickham. Shoemaker had been lurking throughout the entire race with their consistent legs.
Making moves behind the leaders was Spring Dekaney who sat in fifth place at the final exchange, but they had a secret weapon, Tanook Hines. Hines, who placed second in the 2024 UIL open 200m had kicked it into high gear and ran down all the challengers and he nipped Killeen Shoemaker at the line to give Dekaney the victory in 1:23.56.
Shoemaker was second in 1:23.59 and Mayde Creek took third place with a time of 1:24.00.
