Mariah Maxwell Zooms A 22.93 UIL 6A Record In Girls 200m

2025 UIL 6A Girls 200m

The 2025 UIL Girls 6A 200-meter final delivered one of the most thrilling races of the meet, as a stacked field of sprinters battled down the homestretch in a photo finish. Mariah Maxwell of Humble Atascocita, running out of lane 5, seized the moment and surged across the line first in 22.93 seconds, narrowly missing the overall state meet record of 22.82 but still posting a wind-legal, blazing UIL 6A Conference record. Maxwell's closing speed proved decisive in a race where the top three finishers were separated by just 0.07 seconds.

Right alongside her, McKenzi Roberson of Alvin Shadow Creek, only a sophomore, stunned the crowd by finishing second in 22.96, announcing herself as a rising star on the big stage. Celeste Robinson of Cypress Ranch, last year's state champion and one of the most decorated sprinters in the field, held her own with a 23.00 finish to secure third place and another state medal to cap her high school career.

Skylar Brazzell from Northwest Nelson and Bailey Johnson of Arlington Bowie rounded out the top five with strong efforts in this stacked race. Saniyah Miller, the 5A champion from last year now competing in 6A for Lancaster, clocked in at 23.39 to finish sixth. With eight athletes under 24 seconds and the top three under 23, this race underscored the extraordinary depth of Texas sprinting - and set the stage for more fireworks in seasons to come.
