TAPPS 1A Girls Individual State Championship Recap

The TAPPS 1A girls' championship state meet action was an exciting mix of youth, experience, and strong team pack running. Individually, it was Brielle Bryant, a freshman from Houston Second Baptist, who commanded the 2-mile course with confidence. She surged to the front early and never looked back, crossing the finish line in 13:07.30 to secure the individual state title.

Behind her, Hannah Murphy of Texoma Christian, an 11th-grader, gave chase and finished strong in 13:26.66 to take the silver. Rounding out the podium was another standout freshman, Paityn Carrier from Baytown Christian Academy, who clocked 13:36.00 for third place.

The top five also included Sienna Monti of Lycée International De Houston (13:49.83) and Eliana Philpot of Spring Founders Christian (14:16.46), showing a bright future for the 1A division.


TAPPS 1A Girls Team State Championship Recap

In the team standings, it was Spring Founders Christian School that put together a complete and disciplined performance to capture the TAPPS 1A team championship.

Their scoring five packed in the top 12 places, led by Philpot in 5th, Audrey Benedict in 9th, and Avery Dubeck in 10th, resulting in a team score of 32 points and a tight 2:06 split. Their 15:17 average was the difference-maker on a day when pack running mattered most.

Texoma Christian placed second with 44 points, boosted by Murphy's runner-up finish and solid support through their top five. The depth beyond their top scorer, however, couldn't match Founders' consistency. Angleton Christian (87 points), Presbyterian Pan America (88), and Macedonian Christian Academy (101) rounded out the top five, each showing promise with young runners and close team spreads. Overall, the 1A girls' championship set a competitive tone for the day and highlighted the strength of small-school programs across Texas.

TAPPS 1A Boys Individual State Championship Recap

The TAPPS 1A Boys State Championship race brought out some of the most competitive small-school talent in Texas, with individual standouts and team depth on full display over the 5K course in Waco.

At the front of the pack, Reagan Sparkman of The Oaks Christian Academy stole the show with a wire-to-wire victory, clocking in at 17:00.39. The senior's dominant performance set the tone for the day and capped off a strong season with a state title. Behind him, Bellville Faith Academy's Ethan Stegent held his own, finishing just 24 seconds back in 17:24.04 for second place overall. Rounding out the podium's top three was Angleton Christian's Tino Valentino Beacom-Casas, who placed third in 17:38.08 and led his team's charge. Spring Founders Christian's Nicholas Welling (17:54) and Levi Karns (18:11) also delivered big efforts, placing fourth and sixth, respectively, helping to shape the top tier of finishers.


TAPPS 1A Boys Team State Championship Recap

The TAPPS 1A Boys Cross Country State Championships delivered a thrilling and competitive team battle, with Founders Christian emerging victorious with a score of 66 points. Their dominant performance was led by Nicholas Welling, who placed 4th overall, and was backed by strong runs from teammates Levi Karns and Logan Karns.

Angleton Christian finished second with 87 points, paced by individual bronze medalist Valentino Beacom-Casas and supported by Grant Challenger and Collin Allbright. Cornerstone Christian (Granbury) took third with 105 points thanks to a balanced scoring group led by Carson Jones and Cale Davis.

Austin Classical and Macedonian Christian Academy rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth place, respectively, showing depth and determination in a highly competitive field. Each of these programs demonstrated grit and teamwork on the challenging state course, making for an exciting conclusion to the TAPPS 1A season.
