Hico's Jordan Gutierrez Takes UIL 2A 100m Title in 10.57 (+2.2)
2026 UIL Track and Field State Championships
Hico's Jordan Gutierrez came on like a freight train to win the UIL 2A boys 100m in 10.57.
Gutierrez was a little slow out of the blocks and found himself in seventh place midway through the race. He turned it on and blew by the field and appeared to still be accelerating through the finish line over the final half of the race.
Christian Enriquez of Itasca was the first one out of the blocks and led through around 60m, but he could not hold his form and finished in fifth place in a time of 10.77. Kolter Dockery (Ropesville) was the first one to pass Enriquez but his joy at leading was short-lived thanks to Gutierrez's finish.
Dockery held on for second place with a time of 10.67 giving him back-to-back silver medals in the event. Michael Bryant (Frankston) grabbed the bronze with his time of 10.71 and Falls City's Braylon Johnson edged out Enriquez for fourth place.
Big Sandy's Evan Jitjaeng finished in ninth place with an 11.00 time, but earlier in the meet he set a new meet record with a clearance of 17-1.5 in the pole vault.
