Monday 10/19 - Today was our district cross country meet at McKinney. My race was at 8:30 and we got to the race site around 7:00. For warm up we ran about a mile around the beginning of the course, then did dynamic drills and stretches. After that, we put on our spikes and went to the line to do speed drills and strides. The race went really well, times were slow but our varsity girls came away with the district championship, and we're headed to region. After the race we cooled down, stretched, then cheered on the rest of our teammates from our hammocks that we put in the trees lining the course.

Tuesday 10/20 - This morning we had practice at 7:30 for a little shakeout run. We ran 1.5 miles for warm up, did dynamic drills, then ran 4 x 200 meter strides, and cooled down 1 mile. Today was not a very exciting day, but I'll add this photo of the team and our coaches doing the swoopy (Coach Brevards dance move).

Wednesday 10/21 - Practice today was for the 15 girls going to Nike region, and the 4 boys going. This morning we had our first ladder of the season. We warmed up with 1 mile, drills and 5 minutes of stretching. Every one of our reps was all out and we had 3 minutes of rest in between each rep. Our ladder was a 2000, 1600, 1000, 600, 400, and 200. This was one of the best workouts we've had all season, so our coaches were pretty happy about it, and got us really excited for region. For cool down we ran 1 mile then stretched really well, and had an hour to get ready for school!

Thursday 10/22 - This morning we had an easy recovery run, through a pitch black trail through the "forest", it was slightly terrifying. We ran 2 laps on the track then went out and ran 4.5 miles on the trail. When we got back to the track we did a lot of barefoot dynamic drills and strides. This picture (the one below) is of us at our team pictures tomorrow (in the future), in honor of yesterday being back to the future day!

Friday 10/23 - Today we have mid term exams and it was a half day, so we had to be at school at 8:15, that moved practice to 6:00 this morning. Our workout was a progression long run rain or shine...

We got rain, and lots of it! We warmed up in our indoor activity center (indoor half football field) then started the run asap. We started our 8 mile run at 7:10 pace and dropped it to 6:25 by the last mile. The rain was CRAZY, that is the most rain I've ever run through, but you gotta do what you gotta do ;) After our run we had about an hour to shower, get ready for school, eat breakfast, and cram before our tests. After school we had team pictures in our uniforms for the yearbook, those are always fun... And me and Quinny finally took a picture doing a headstand!!!

Saturday 10/24 - Practice today was at 2pm because Payton and Ryan had to take the ACT this morning, and we didn't want to have practice without them. Luckily the weather was rainy and cold so the time of practice didn't make a difference. For warm up we ran 2 miles, then drilled and did strides. Workout was 8 x 200 meter slow interval, with a 200 meter jog in between each rep. Our 200's ranged between 34 and 36 seconds, then cool down was a mile and static stretches.

Sunday 10/25 - Today we left for our region cross country meet at 7:15 and got to the course at 3:00 to do our pre meet workout. Our workout was a 2 miles warm up, then a 400 from the start and 2 200s to the finish. Then for cool down we ran the last 1000 meters and stretched. For dinner we went to Orlandos and the staff was struggling with all of our orders but we survived with full bellies, so that was good. I think we're all really excited for the race tomorrow!
