Maddy Mondays Week #3

Monday 8/31: This morning we had a long EPR, so the top seven girls ran 10 miles. During the run we kept ourselves occupied by playing a game called contact. Basically you're trying to guess someones word, that they choose, and its kind of like 20 questions, but not really. We had all seven girls stay on the entire run, and no one was really struggling, so it was a really good day for everyone. That afternoon we had PM practice at 3:45. We did weights, sprints, and core, then went on a 6 mile run to reach our miles for the day.

Tuesday 9/1: Today we had an easy recovery run on our local city trail with a group of the top 14 girls. We had an easy day, because everyone was sore from weights yesterday and we have a hard workout tomorrow. When we got back to the track we did 4 slow interval 200's with a 200m jog, then stretched and went inside.

Wednesday 9/2: This morning we had a 4 mile tempo, we warmed up with a mile and half and drills, then started the run. We ran at 6:20 pace so that we could run with all seven varsity girls, but the last mile we picked up the pace to negative split. Afterwards we ran a mile and a half cool down and stretched, then ran inside to shower and get ready for school. We had PM practice again today, but everyone got all of their miles that morning so no one had a run that afternoon, all we had were weights and core.

Thursday 9/3: Today was another 6 mile recovery run, around a loop that we run all.of.the.time. Its called Parker loop and it is a 5 mile loop around an elementary school/shopping square. After we ran the loop we had to run another mile on the track to reach our miles for the day. Then we did dynamic drills and stretched before we went inside.

Friday 9/4: This morning captains had to run practice because both of our coaches are out of town. We warmed up with 1 mile then drilled, and got in our groups for the run. My group of seven girls ran our steady state at 6:15 pace, and most girls ran 3 miles, but the older girls ran 4. Then we stretched and had to go home to shower because we weren't allowed in the locker room since our coaches were gone.

Saturday 9/5: This morning me and Payton left at 6am for Arkansas for our official visit at the University of Arkansas. When we got to Arkansas we went to the football game, ate dinner with the coaches and then slept at our friends (Paytons sister Sydneys) house. So today we took off since it was such a busy day.

Sunday 9/6: This morning me and Payton woke up and ran an easy 5 miles around Sydneys neighborhood, then went to brunch, an art museum, dinner, and ice cream. Tonight we are staying at the dorm rooms with some of the freshman girls.
