Southlake Owns Chile Pepper!

Boys Race

  • Several teams traveled out of Texas this weekend to run at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville Arkansas. Reed Brown won a tight battle in the individual race by only tenths of seconds to Devin Meyrer from Lafayette (Wildwood) High School in Missouri. Despite Browns individual victory the Southlake Carroll squad ended up placing 2nd behind Saucony Flo 50 ranked No. 6 Lafayette. Carroll ended up scoring 78 points for the 2nd place finish. Keller senior Carter Persyn also ran very well placing 18th running 15:45. Other Texas guys teams to run in the elite varsity race were Conroe Oak Ridge (6th), Fort Worth Arlington Heights (18th), Greenhill (28th), and Birdville High School (49th).

Girls Race

  • The Southlake Carroll girls dominated the competition scoring 46 points to take the win in the girls varsity elite race. They ran an average time of 18:32 with only a :33 second 1-5 split. The next closest team was Jackson High School who scored 186 points to take 2nd. Leading the way for Southlake was senior Allison Esparza who finished 4th running 18:13. The girls had almost all of their top seven runners in the 20. Other Texas schools who ran in Arkansas were Belton (15th), Fort Worth Boswell (16th), Greenhill (35th), Birdville High School (40th), and Fort Worth Carter-Riverside (63rd).
