Moment No. 2: Texas Distance Running

Texas distance running kicked off with a bang in 2016. Southlake Carroll's Reed Brown won the NBNI mile aginst a loaded field running a 4:09.95. This continued through the outdoor season. Two of the craziest races of the state meet, distance wise, were the mile and 3200m. In the 3200m Reed Brown took the title over Sam Worley, both ran sub-nine minutes. Worley took the 1600m state title with a crazy race aginst Reed Brown. Worley went 4:04.59 while Brown went 4:04.82. This was just the start of the Texas distance insanity. In XC, we saw the emergence of several future stars including Alex Maier and London Culbreath, not to mention the Morris twins, Graydon and Gracie. Worley finished 2nd at NXN to Casey Clinger while Reed Brown won Foot Locker Nationals. The run capped off a huge year for Texas Distance running. It's going to be super exciting to see what this Spring has in store, the possibilities are high for several Texas guys running sub 4 in the mile.
