Analysis: Kappel finished second at the 2015 UIL 6A state cross country meet. She qualified for the 2016 state meet and led her Cinco Ranch team once again. Her 2016 season started on very good note as she rolled off five straight wins that saw her fastest race of the season in 17:53 that was one of them. The season didn't end as well as Kappel wanted as she placed 38th at the state meet.
