TAPPS State Preview: 7 Questions Heading into the Weekend

Elle Catron won the 2018 Brenham Hillacios DII race

Who has the best chance at disrupting Woodland Christian's Ellie Catron's attempt at winning the 800, 1600, and 3200?

Ellenor Catron has been absolutely dominant this year as she hasn't lost a single 800, 1600, or 3200 all year. She's a lock to win, right? Not quite.

In the 800, Round Rock Concordia's Katelyn Miller was less than a half second behind, teammate Emily Jasek was a second behind her and Boerne Geneva standout Emme Owens was also in the mix.

Where things should get really interesting is the 1600 in which Ashley Frye appears to be the biggest threat to Catron's triple crown as she finished just a second behind her in the 1600. Frye has played second fiddle to Catron multiple times this year (dating back to cross), has run for four years with Katelyn Miller who ran behind Marble Falls Faith Academy standout Sophie McCannon for awhile before eventually getting the best of her at state, and has one last chance to catch to catch Catron before her high school running career comes to an end. All of these factors combined gives the Concordia duo of Ashley Frye and Katie Miller the best shot at disrupting Catron's distance sweep.
