14. Christian Mathurin (Sr.) Round Rock

Mathurin ran a 15:23 season best at FEAST early into the season. He added 16:07 at Vista Ridge and a 16:18 run at Lovejoy. 

Round Rock's team success took them to the state meet and Mathrin was key to that.  He added PRs in the 800m (2:00), 1600m (4:27), and 9:51 (3200m).


13. Kebede Kerlin (Sr.) Round Rock

Kerlin's junior season began with a 15:44 PR run at FEAST. He then went on to run 15:53 at Lovejoy and 16:46 at the state meet for the Round Rock squad.

During the track season, he continued to run well. He had a 1:56 PR in the 800m and 4:21 in the 1600m.


12. Kai McCullough (So.) Austin Vandegrift

McCullough had a great freshman year campaign. He started the cross country season off with a 15:38 PR at FEAST. He then ran mid to low 16 minute 5K races all year long. 

A 27th place run at the state meet was crucial to the team success that saw them place second overall.

On the track, he ran 15:11 in the 5K at the Texas Distance Festival. From there, he ran under 9:52 all year long including a 9:41 PR in the 3200m and 4:34 in the 1600m.


11. Drew Campbell (Sr.) Austin Lake Travis

Campbell consistently ran in the mid-16 minute range last year for 5K. He finished 20th at the Region 4-6A meet with a 16:39.

The end of track season is when things began to click. He ran 9:44 in the 3200m and then his times in the 1600m were in a free fall. He ran 4:19 at district and then 4:16 at Region 4-6A to qualify for state where he PRed in 4:15 for 7th place.


10. Edwin Rotich (Sr.) Leander Rouse

Rotich didn't get many runs during the spring, but he did have a 4:26 on record in the 1600m in early March.

During the cross season, Rotich was a top finisher all season long in the Austin and Central Texas region. He ran a couple of 15 high races including a fourth place finish in 15:56 at Region 4-5A to qualify for state. 

Rotich placed 46th at the state cross country meet.


9. Javier Mora (Sr.) Pflugerville

Mora went all-in on the 800m last spring to the tune of a 1:52.72 PR and fifth place finish at the UIL 5A state meet.

He also ran well in the other distance events with a 4:20 and 9:35 prior to turning his sights to the half mile.

Mora was a mid-16 guy over 5,000m last year and even ran 15:14 in three miles at McNeil.


8. Renne Cooper (Sr.) Austin Brentwood Christian

Cooper ran his fastest time of the year in the first meet with his 15:52. From there, he was consistently in the high 16s and finished the cross season runner-up at the TAPPS state meet.

Track season was a gem for Cooper as he ran 2:02, 4:23, and 9:33 PRs. He was second at the TAPPS state meet in the 1600m and won the 3200m. His six sub 10 minute races are a good sign for the upcoming cross country season.
