There is a surprise in the 3A rankings. The 2016 runner-ups Tornillo hold the top spot, not Luling. In fact, there is no Luling at all. It is due to Luling having yet to run a 5K race, but trust when they do they should expect to be right in the thick of things.
In the 4A Rankings, Kaufman is at the top. They placed fifth at the 2016 state meet and made no secret that they want a better outcome this season.
With the usual suspects of the 5A powers sitting near the top of this week's rankings, the top spot currently belongs to Georgetown. With programs like Grapevine and defending champions Lucas Lovejoy lingering around, Georgetown will need to keep improving to hold off the rest of the class.
The 6A Rankings are totally different from the overall rankings that were released last week. First, Flower Mound leap frogged Southlake Carroll who sat out their A squad. Although ALEX MAIER sat out for Flower Mound, the 2016 UIL 6A third place finishers were still able to make a jump leap frogging Carroll due to the big time 15:12.00 performance by KIRK JARRETT. That's not the only movement as Round Rock Stony Point and The Woodlands make moves up to towards the top of the rankings.
