Mileage: 5.5 miles

The weather was beautiful and it was just one of those days where you LOVE running. I ran 2 of the 300's in my training shoes and then ran the rest of the reps in my spikes. I felt amazing, I also rocked a snapback which may have added a couple of seconds on my reps, but runners have to be stylish. This is the last week before spring break so school wise we have a bunch of testing, but being a Senior it just isn't as important to me if you know what I'm saying.

3/3/15- Tuesday

Workout: AM, 10min w/u, weights and abs, 15min c/d PM, 42min easy run

Mileage: 9.5 miles

We have practice during 5th period which is always the same period that our swimmers have. Now that swimming is over Jackson Welchman and Cito Garza have been running with us which is awesome. Not too many people would want to run after finishing their own season. Mad respect to them! On the afternoon run we ran on School Street which involves a 200 meter killer hill, so that was fun. Good day though. Training is feeling good.

3/4/15- Wednesday

Workout: 15min w/u, 2x400 @65sec, 4x200 @28sec, 5x100 @13sec, 15min c/d

Mileage: 5 miles

Today was,,, fun…. After warming up, we were talking about the cold front that was supposed to come in tonight. After doing our first 400, we were resting when the cold front hit. The temperature dropped 15 degrees, the wind picked up, and it started raining. Awesome. But overall the workout was good. I forgot to bring my flats so I felt a bit sluggish in my trainers. The cool down was once again the toughest part of the workout. It was freezing, windy, and rainy and we were all pretty tired, but we slogged through it. Before practice I played 45min of basketball because I got to keep my game up, ball is life. We have our home meet on Friday and I'll be doing the 800 and 1600.

3/5/15-Thursday

Workout: AM, 30min easy run. PM, 30min easy run

Mileage: 8 miles

In the morning I ran with Jaxon in town and it turned out to be a really nice run. It was a bit chilly but the weather felt great once we warmed up. After school I ran another 30min in the park with Monty and stretched a bit. I usually don't run this much before a meet, but I'm already behind on my mileage for the week and the meet will just be a workout. I was pretty stupid though, I played about 2 hours of basketball and 45min of soccer today too. Ball is life, but my legs are sapped and my hamstrings are really sore. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

3/5/15-Friday

Workout: BISD Meet. 12min w/u, 800, 12min c/d. 15min w/u, 1600, 15min c/d

Mileage: 8 miles

Solid meet overall. I warmed up for the 800 and felt pretty decent. I came through 400 in 58 and felt strong but over the last 150 my legs just weren't responding. I ended up placing 2nd behind Beau Anderson, my good friend from Brandeis. I ran 1:59 and was pretty upset with the entire race overall. I just didn't have it in my legs. I recovered pretty well and felt fine for the 1600. I just sat behind the leaders and closed hard. My splits were 70, 71, 66, 62 for 4:29. Although I am still not hitting fast times yet, I feel like I'm progressing well and should be on track for running well at Texas Relays.

3/5/15-Saturday

Workout: Long run

Mileage: 10 miles

Ran with Taylor Monroe, Francis, and Monty in the morning. My hamstrings felt like tight rubber bands, but we gutted through the run and then rewarded ourselves with a Flagstop breakfast. Delicious. Spring break is officially here and I'll be leaving Monday for Florida. I should be able to get in some really solid training.

3/5/15-Sunday

Workout: Easy run

Mileage: 8 miles

I was able to run with my brother Stephen who runs for the University of Memphis and Monty. It was solid day to run, but I had just eaten, my left hamstring was really tight, and my left foot arch was killing me for some reason. Besides that it was a nice run.

Week Mileage: 46 miles

Week in Review:

Looking back on my track season so far has been tough. I really haven't been able to have a quality race yet. There are some things on my part that I need to be doing a better job on though. Not playing basketball every day, eating healthier, stretching more, and continuing to get 9-10 hours of sleep every night. I'm excited for this upcoming week of training in Florida though. Texas Relays is in three weeks and so a lot of confidence will be coming from my training and my last meet. We'll see how my body responds to it all. Next week I totally promise that I'll included pictures or something that will spice this blog up. Till then, I'm out.
