Tank Tuesday: Moving on to State

5/4/15-Monday

Workout: AM, 45min easy run. PM, 30min easy run

Mileage: 10.5 miles

What I call the Mileage Monster day. I felt great though and ran by myself on both runs so I plugged in the headphones and simply ran. It was a bit rainy in the morning and a bit hot in the afternoon so it was a Nooice balance. 11 days left of my season.

5/5/15-Tuesday

Workout: 35min easy run

Mileage: 5 miles

We were going to do a tempo today, but it was pouring cats and dogs outside so we are postponing it until tomorrow morning. Ended up just running with Monty on a Tour de Boerne and enjoyed every bit of it, felt great. Today was also the first day of AP testing, but I am not taking a single test since I'm attending USAFA. This results in me being extremely laid back and relaxed with no worrying about studying. I mean, even if I was taking the AP test, I still probably won't be studying so… I also ended up buying 200 Nooice wristbands for my app. Yeah, things are getting serious.

5/6/15-Wednesday

Workout: AM, 15min w/u, 2.5 tempo @5:10, 15min c/d.

Mileage: 6.5 miles

It was a Nooice morning to run, a bit wet and rainy, but nevertheless a Nooice day. This week I've been running solo, and took this workout the same way. Ran comfortably and just hit negatives on each 800 since it was an 800 loop. Solid day. I'm just tuning up for State. All of the fitness is already there, I just need to get the body to the starting line healthy and rested.

5/7/15-Thursday

Workout: 11min w/u, 15x200 @27-30sec, 20min c/d.

Mileage: 6 miles

Today I ran the last “hard" workout of my high school career. Sad. It was a humid and hot day and I had a lovely head wind to run into. It was a solid workout though. I started at 30's and worked down to 27's by the end mainly focusing on my form the last 50 meters. My two races at Regionals I didn't have a good last 50 meters. This will not happen again. I'm excited for State. The 3rd time is the charm I guess.

5/8/15-Friday

Workout: 15min shakeout

Mileage: 2 miles

Shot some basketball and did a light shakeout type stride run during my off period and after school. Starting last year, every Friday in the spring semester myself and 3 of my friends started an Ultimate Frisbee Club which plays after school so I went and watched that today. The last 6 weeks of my season it stinks because I can only watch. One week left though, be smart.

5/9/15-Saturday

Workout: Off day

Mileage: 0 miles

It is very strange taking all of these days off. I'm pretty sure my body doesn't know how to react and is confused. In the afternoon, we had my dad's retired ceremony from the Air Force! He had served 22 years and retired as a Colonel in the Air Force. I am proud to be following his footsteps as I begin this fall in becoming an officer. Just have a few more high school goals before then.

5/10/15-Sunday

Workout: 1600 time trial pacing my sisters, 5:32, 6 miles easy run

Mileage: 7 miles

While my sisters warmed up I threw the football with my dad. I grew up playing football and it's one of my biggest regrets in high school not being able to play football. My sisters Rebecca and Anna pr'd again by 6 seconds closing in a 76 so they have a lot more in the tank! Afterwards, I ran with all of my old high school teammates who have gotten in town the past few days. Shane Kreidel, who runs at Duke, Jacob Ryan, who will be running at Kansas in the fall, Monty, UTSA, and Christian Villescas, Rice. Afterwards got in some stretching and choco leche. I'm just solely preparing for the Chocolate Milk Mile coming up in 2 weeks.

Week Mileage: 30 miles

Week in Review:

Putting the finishing touches on my high school career. Had two quality workouts where I felt great on both, the body is health, and the mind is strong. This is the most confident I've even been going into the state meet and I'm excited to race some of the best in the state. Win or lose, good or bad, give all the glory to God. Tank out.

P.S. For kicks, here are some of my future USAFA teammates:
