Tank Tuesday: Mileage Monster

3/30/15-Monday

Workout: AM, 15min easy run. PM, 800 meter w/u, 4x300 @44sec, 3x300-500 @1600 race pace. 15min c/d

Mileage: 7.5 miles

Another beautiful hot day in the great state of Texas to run in. My legs felt a bit fatigued as I finished up the 300's and moved on into the 300-500 but I hit all of my times pretty easily. I did run in my Nike trainers which were pretty heavy and tough to deal with. Two things will never cease amazing me. First, why the cool down is the toughest part of every workout, and second, why running your race pace in practice is so hard! But I guess it is all worth it because everyone seems to be doing it.

3/31/15-Tuesday

Workout: Up tempo 50min run

Mileage: 8 miles

We ran in and around town today running up the dreaded hill of School Street. Timmy and I ran hard and got in a quality day for our legs. I wanted to hit it pretty well since we have our meet Thursday afternoon. I'm excited for it and should hit a season best in the 3200 since my current SB is 9:49, lol.

4/1/15-Wednesday

Workout: AM, 30min easy run. PM, 21min shakeout

Mileage: 7 miles

Today I ran again in the afternoon because I needed the mileage. Yes, I needed the extra 3 miles. You can call me a mileage monster now. No, haha but my coach and I want to train hard over these next few weeks so that we're not peaking until Regionals and State. On these runs the longer we went the better I felt and in the afternoon it was just a gorgeous day to run. It is instances like this that make me love running.

4/2/15-Thursday

Workout: NEISD Meet. 12min w/u, 3200-9:44, 15min c/d. 12min w/u, 1600-4:25, 22min c/d

Mileage: 11 miles

Had this meet at Heroes Stadium which is where our Regional track meet is so it was nice to run there. For the 3200 it was really hot and no competition so around lap 5-6 I wasn't feeling too good so I just ran it like a workout. A bit frustrating, but no harm done. The 1600 was a bit better and I felt good. Solid race day and I won both so a good day. On the cool down after my 1600, my calves cramped soooooo badly. I was literally rolling on the ground in agony with everyone looking. Haha. One cool thing was that I got to hang out with my old running club FEAST and catch up with my old friend Matt Torvick. We have been racing each other since we were like 12 years old, the memories.

4/3/15-Friday

Workout: 55mile run

Mileage: 8 miles

We all didn't want to run in the morning and most of us were busy later that night, so we met at 3pm. 3pm in Texas is not a good time to meet. It was blistering hot and humid and the nice easy shakeout run was not nice and easy at all. I was dehydrated and starting to get the chills by the time I finished my run so we hit up Sonic afterwards to fuel up. Running was tough today.

4/4/15-Saturday

Workout: 15min w/u, 10x200m hills, 15min c/d

Mileage: This workout is an oldy and we all love doing it. It's just hard when you have to run at 8:30am when you could be sleeping in. The workout went well, it's just my calves that are killing me. Right now my calves, my hip, my hamstrings, and now my quads are all bugging me. You have to love it. Hardest part of the workout?? The cool down.

4/5/15-Sunday

Workout: Off day

Mileage: 0 miles

I woke up at 6:15am to go run, but my body has been bugging me the past few days and I caught a nasty cough somehow during the night, so I ended up just going back to bed. I was then going to jog a bit in the afternoon, but I decided to finally get my senior pictures done. They turned out really nice, here's a sneak peek.

Week Mileage: 45.5 miles

Week in Review: This week was a week where I'll look back and say I didn't “accomplish much" but it was one of the stepping stones that everyone needs in their training. We have a low key meet again next week and so I hope to just run better than I ran this past week. State is in six weeks. Keeping my eyes on the prize but never taking any run, workout, or meet for granted.
