Coach Nicco Brown On Shiner St. Paul's Trek Back To The Top

The 2017 Shiner St. Paul girls and boys pose on the TAPPS 2A awards podium

Browse the annals of TAPPS XC and TF, and you'll recognize that Shiner St. Paul is used to winning - a lot. Team championships are second nature.

In 2022, Shiner St. Paul was dethroned as the multi-time girls state cross country champions by Providence Classical, who dropped from 3A to 2A. In 3A, Providence Classical had won team titles the prior two seasons.

First place (Providence Classical) to third (Shiner St. Paul) was separated by a mere 11 points: Providence Classical 68, Ascension Academy 69, and Shiner St. Paul 79. Providence Classical returns its entire top 5. Ascension returns five of its top six, and Shiner St. Paul returns five of its top six.

In other words, if you can make it to Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco on October 30th, the TAPPS 2A Girls may just deliver one of the best Cross Country races in the state of Texas, regardless of conference and / or classification.
