Running for Fun
Emma Goetz of Tyler Grace Community was told by her former coach to "run for fun." She was in middle school then.
She's now a freshman and is one of TAPPS' top female cross country runners, regardless of age. Having run mostly 5Ks this season, she's dropped her personal best time down to 18:21.2. She's still running for fun every morning at 6:00 a.m., but she's also putting TAPPS 5A competition on notice.
This past summer, she placed 8th in her age group at the AAU Junior Olympics in the 3200, earning the accolade of All-American. At the TAPPS State Cross Country State Championships on October 30th, she'll run the two-mile course at Cottonwood and look to establish herself as a force for three more years.
