The Houston Memorial girls are ranked 23rd coming into the XC season. Even though they lose two girls, they still have the number four ranked XC 5K runner in soon to be senior Khayla Patel. Even though the team did not qualify for state, Patel finished sixth overall at the 6A level with her time of 18:06.88. However, Houston Memorial also has the 33rd ranked girl in the state in Leslie Romero. If these girls can continue to run well and the team can find two more girls to run in the 20 minute range, these team has a shot to qualify for state.
