Texas A&M Indoor High School Classic MASSIVE Preview!

Boys Sprints

Trevin Chambers at Texas Relays

60m (2015-2016 National Indoor Leader Boards)

Khalil Lacy is the top Texas A&M Indoor Classic returner in this event. Last year he ran a 7.08 to place 8th in the finals. His fastest time is a 7.03 which he ran a week later at the Carl Lewis invite. The win won't be easy in the 60m because like all the sprint events this race is STACKED! He's going to be challenged by Desoto's Trevin Chambers along with several other talented runners. Chambers didn't have his best race last year at A&M, he finished 13th overall, but he has run faster than Lacy. Chambers broke seven seconds at last year's Arkansas High School Invitational when he ran 6.98.

Howard Fields left at the finish of the 4x400m at the state meet

This is one of the biggest races of the day with over 250 boys entered. Manvel's Howard Feilds is definitely one of the guys to keep an eye on here. The junior won this race at Texas A&M last year as only a sophomore and was 6th in last year's state meet. He holds an indoor PR of 48.50, and an outdoor PR of 47.00. Returning 6A State Champion, Keshun Reed will also be in the mix.  Last year Reed only finished 18th at Texas A&M running 51.17, but in 2014, he ran 49.29 as a sophomore to take the win. Someone who might be a bit of a dark horse could be Champion Allison from George Ranch. The junior finished 19th (51.21) in the prelims last year at A&M but was out a majority of outdoor with an injury.

200m (2015-2016 National Indoor Leader Boards)

With 297 guys entered this is the biggest guys race on the track Friday night.  Trevin Chambers is the fastest returner running this weekend having run 21.76 at last year's Arkansas High School Invitational. You're also going to want to look out for Khalil Lacy the senior from Richardson who ran 22.04 to place 2nd in last year's meet. Another runner to definitely keep an eye on will be Shamon Ehiemua from Fort Bend Marshall. The junior only finished 15th (22.47) in prelims last year but was the State Champion outdoors where he ran 20.89. Champion Allison also ran last year placing 4th overall running 22.25, he was the youngest finisher in the top 10 at last year's meet.

60mH (2015-2016 National Indoor Leader Boards)

Isaiah Lucas competed at the World Youth Championships and is the 2nd fastest returning 60mH time of 8.00. With Norman Grimes not running, he is the favorite based on returning marks. The next closest person to him is Allen's Bryce Douglas. The senior ran the 3rd fastest returning time of 8.33 last year at the Carl Lewis Invitational. Also in the mix could be Mansfield Summit senior Medric Roberson. Roberson finished 2nd last year at State in the 110mH running his PR of 13.80. He's never run a 60mH race but there's no denying the state runner-up could definitely shake things up. Xavier Jackson could also be in the mix. The McKinney North senior has the 4th fastest returning time in the state at 8.35. He ran that last year at the Carl Lewis Invitational to place 2nd behind 2015 Fort Bend Marshall grad Amere LattinThis will be yet another competitive field where anyone could make the podium.
