Maddy Mondays 13

Monday 11/16 - This morning practice was at 6:45, and workout was 1000 meter repeats. We warmed up with a mile, then did dynamic drills and speed drills. Our first 1000 was all out and we came through at 3:05, the second one was 3:15, and our last 1000 was negative split starting at 50 seconds. After each 1000 we would check our heart rates, and jog a little bit, then start the next one in about 5 minutes. We had 4 x 200 meter finishers all out with 40 second rests in between each one. After our workout we jogged 3 miles for cool down then stretched really well! Today in Coach  Brevard's class we dissected fetal pigs and took out their hearts, this photo is of Payton holding up our pig Wilbur.

Total miles: 8

Tuesday 11/17 - This morning practice was moved back to 7:30 to allow a little more sleep. Workout was just an easy 5 mile recovery followed by 4 barefoot strides across the football field, and really good stretching. In study hall we got our cute new uniforms for Nike Sough Regionals and our forms to order our state rings, and we are so so so excited to get them!!!!Total miles: 5

Wednesday 11/18 - It's everybody's favorite day of the week... Tempo day! For warm up we ran 1 mile then did dynamic drills and strides. Our tempo was only 3 miles starting at 6:15 and dropping to 5:50. After everyone finished we quickly cooled down with a mile and stretches, because we had to go inside to turn in our order forms for our state rings!!! After school we had to work the middle school cross country meet. Payton, Quinn, and I always work the chute, and pass out ribbons. This time, Payton was asking all of the girls that were done racing if they had fun, and almost every one of them said no, we were dying laughing!
Total miles: 5

Thursday 11/19 - This morning practice was at 7:30 since workout wouldn't take as long. We warmed up with 1 mile at steady state pace (6:30) then did dynamic drills and started our run. Workout was 10 x 200m slow interval with a 200m jog in between. We average about 38-39 sec on each one, and coach T blessed us and took of the last one so we only did 9. Afterwards we cooled down a half mile and stretched really well. Today in Coach Brevard's class we had an essay about the circulatory system and Payton wrote her essay about sonic corn dogs.
Total miles: 4

Friday 11/20 - Traveling day!!! This morning we met at school at 8:30 to leave for Nike South Regionals. We had a typical bus ride for us: jamming out to 2000's pop, sleeping, and eating food. When we got to the course for our pre meet workout we ran 2 miles for warm up, drilled, then ran a 400 from the start and a 400 to the finish. Afterwards we sprinted to the bus, grabbed our wallets, then bought some rad shirts. Then we headed to the hotel and took showers before eating dinner at Buca di Beppo. The rest of the night was spent laughing at candy crush and preparing for the race tomorrow.
 Total miles: 4

Saturday 11/21 - Race Day! For some reason the weather really likes to make all of our courses on race day look like melted chocolate ice-cream. Mud was everywhere!! For warm up we ran for 10 minutes then did drills, and put our spikes on. We made sure to tie our spikes super tight so the mud wouldn't pull them off of our feet, we also taped the laces. Once everyone had their spikes on we went to the starting line to do speed drills and strides. The race went well, we got 3rd place which wasn't what we were hoping for but we're keeping our heads up, and praying for the at large bid to go to nationals! I want to give a big congrats to the Southlake girls, Kingwood girls, and the top 5 individuals for qualifying for nationals, super happy for all of you guys! The bus ride home was very successful… we only stopped TWICE for bathroom breaks and got home before 7:00, which was a big accomplishment for us!
Total miles: 6

Sunday 11/22 - Today I ran a little shakeout run and did dynamic drills and stretches before going to church with Payton and Bryce. The rest of my day was spent with my grandparents who came in town for thanksgiving! BLESSED BECAUSE NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!!!!!
