2021 Nike South Invitational: Schedule, Course Map, Preview

The Nike South Invitational is back to being fully loaded.

Some of the top teams from across the state from Dallas to El Paso and on down to South Texas are all heading to The Woodlands to get a chance to race for the Nike South championships. To accomplish that, they will have to be prepared to get muddy!

Watch out for Emmanuel Sgouros (Houston St. John's) who won the Hoka One McNeil Inv. last weekend in Round Rock against some of the best Texas boys. He should get a challenge from top runners like Israel David (El Paso Eastlake), Jared Laverty (El Paso Americas), Kyle Easton (The Woodlands) Ruben Rojas Betanzos (Katy Seven Lakes) and Emanuel Galdino (Houston Stratford) and Oliver Maldonado (Atascocita).

In the boy's team race, the host team The Woodlands should be considered the favorites. They are the MileSplit50 No. 21 ranked team in the nation. We will see how Houston Stratford stacks up with them as well as with Kingwood, Flower Mound, and Atascocita.

The girls individual race should be a good one with US No. 3 in the 3 mile distance Natalie Cook (Flower Mound), TX No. 7 Amy Morefield (Lucas Lovejoy), TX No. 12 Joy Gill (San Antonio Homeschool Spartans), and the rest of the Flower Mound Jags. Madison Peters from Pearland is also having a great season and if the course is in good conditions expect her to be a front runner as well.

Expect MileSplit50 No. 3 ranked Flower Mound to be the team to beat on the girls side with a serious challenge from Lovejoy who has been on a tear this season. The Woodlands, Klein Oak, and Houston Episcopal should pose challenges as well.
