What a race! The whole time it was a battle between three individuals in the lead. All of them were swapping back and forth for first. The battle was between 2014 state champion Kyle Doty, Luling's Buster Roberts, and Whitesboro's Jeffrey (Nic) Butts. San Antonio Cole's Christian Schreckhise was also in the mix through the mile but fell off slightly as the pack strung out. When it came down to the final stretch, Butts had pulled ahead enough to grab the win. Roberts finished right on his heals running only five seconds slower, while Doty rounded out the top 3. Butts and Roberts had the 1st and 2nd fastest times of the day (it helped they had the cleanest course conditions being only the secound race of the day). In the team race the guys from Luling made history capturing their 6th team title in a row. They're only the second team in history to ever do this. They captured the win with 40 points while San Antonio Cole took second scoring 70 points.

Girls 3A

This was a close race between Holliday's Cryslan Tucker and East Bernard's Jessica Rabius. Tucker was the returning state champ while Rabius was the returning runner up. Both girls battled to the end but it was Rabius who came away with the win this year! Both girls are sophomores and have now gone back and forth with the state title it's going to be interesting to see the battle continue for two more years! On the team side of things East Bernard took the win but only by a hair over Holliday. The final score was 88 to 90.
