Houston Hurdlers
Last year, Region 3-6A had three girls in the top ten and six girls who all ran under 14.20 in the 100H and five of the top ten in the 300H. Chase Martin of Houston Memorial is one of the top returners. She has PRs of 14.12 and 43.40. Martin is one of the area's more versatile athletes having competed in the heptathlon and being able to compete at a high level in both hurdles makes her one to watch. Katy's Christie Terhune is another top returner. Terhune is one of many victims of being a hurdler in last year's region 3-6A gauntlet. Terhune ran a PR of 42.20 in the Regional 300H Final and was unable to make it to the State meet due to the ridiculously talented Region. Terhune is Texas' #2 returning 300H and looks to make that trip to Austin in the 300H.

Middle Distance
Both of the Region 3-6A State meet qualifiers both return for their senior seasons. Christie Terhune...yes, that Christie Terhune returns as one of Texas' top half milers. Yes, I did say she did not qualify for State last year in the 300H, but that was just the 300H. Terhune was able to qualify in the 800M by winning the Region 3-6A meet. She won a bronze medal last year with her 2:11.41 PR, and is Texas' #3 returner in the 800M behind Julia Heymach and Aaliyah Miller. Jean Jenkins of Cy-Falls is another state qualifier. Jean Place second in the Region 3-6a race at 2:13.45. Jenkins returns for her Senior season and plans to improve on her 6th place finish at State. Jenkins also has a 1600M PR of 5:11 and 18:43 5K may also be in the running for qualifying in the mile.
