This is indeed cross country and it is distance running to an extent. However, we are only talking about 5,000 meters. There were several guys who demonstrated during the track season that they have some wheels and range to run from 800m all of the way up.
There were some guys who had very good cross seasons, but then totally destroyed things on the track.
