Breakdown: The Archbishop Carroll squad from DC is well equipped to at least medal and possibly win at the Texas Relays...but the Texas lives and breathes the 4x1. They're going to have to run a perfect race just to advance to the final, which is difficult to do when this is their season opener. Manvel comes in as the favorite after running 40.66 at the Victor Lopez Classic with a lineup that wasn't operating at 100%. It's only a matter of time before they take down SW Dekalb's 40.49 and take over at US #1. A number of the top teams aren't competing at Texas Relays, so Arlington Martin is the most likely team to contend with Manvel. Long Beak Poly is a strong program, but are still not a lock to make it to the final. The prelim heats are going to be extremely tense. With a big group of teams running in the low to mid 41s range, some very good squads could end their day early if they make any mistakes. Even without their A-Team, Desoto is always a contender in the sprint relays.
