Records10:02.47 Southlake Carroll '08

Record Breakers: College Station - Long Beach Wilson - Colleyville

Contenders: Smithson Valley - Southlake Carroll - Kingwood Park

In the hunt: Houston Memorial - Keller Central - Weslaco East
Breakdown: Can a 5A team win it all? College Station has the best 1600m leg in the field. If Jon Bishop is anywhere near the front of the race when he gets the baton, he's going to be near impossible to beat. That being said, nearly every top distance program in the state has sent a loaded relay. If it comes down to a close 1600m race, David Strome could be the difference maker for Colleyville. Defending champs from The Woodlands aren't back this season and Southlake doesn't have their "A-Team" entered. This should be a wire to wire race. Yes, it's the last event of the day late on Friday night, but there's no doubt it will be worth staying to watch.
