Region 3 Meet Preview For Each Classification

Region 3-4A Girls

Girls team race preview:

Salado- Coming off of last year's victory we are predicting that the girls are going to easily repeat as team champions. With their being a possibility that their top 5 could all be within the top 10 shows you how solid they are. Being group is led by Sophomore Cade Harris and Junior Penelope Anderson. The girls should make a huge statement in Huntsville that they can compete with the best for a podium finish at state come November.

Bullard- Likely the most surprising team we predict is that the Bullard girls will get second place. After last year not making the regional meet these ladies turned it around ( and quickly). Winning their already stacked district race these ladies are ready for their chance at the big stage in November. This Bullard squad is led by senior Riley Roberts and Freshman Peyton Childs.

Hudson- The Hudson Girls are always a staple name in the 4A girls race and nothing is different this year. While they may have lost to the Jacksonville girls by 4 points I believe that their experience racing in championship season will come into play, ultimately ending up with the last podium spot. The Hornets are led by Junior Madison Vasquez and Sophomore Kari Bruck.

Jacksonville- Clinching the last state spot we have the Jacksonville girls getting the ticket to state. Seeing as they are in the toughest district in the region, I think it is likely they will perform well in Huntsville. However, it is going to be a very close race between several teams for this last spot. The Jacksonville Girls are led by Senior Emily Martinez and Sophomore Danniela Guerrero.

Sleeper Picks- Burnet, La Vega, Huffman-Hargrave

Individuals: (Salado), Cade Harris & Penelope Anderson should be pushing each other for gold in Huntsville. They will be followed by Vania Martinez (Gatesville), Riley Roberts (Bullard), and Giselle Alejandro (Henderson)

Sleeper Picks: Sydney Engleking, Asah Roy, Rika Witt, Alexa Williams

    Region 3-4A Boys

    Boy's Team Race Preview:

Salado- The Salado boys team is going to be tough to beat going into regionals from the district. Boasting a 16:15 Average time and having their top 5 under 17 will set them apart. Led by Luke Anderson and Coulson Boyd both are coming from running under 16 at district. We predict they will take the team title home and have a chance to place swimmingly at Round Rock in November.

Giddings- With a perfect team score at district the Giddings boys shouldn't be written off to have a chance at the team title. With them being the runner-up in 2020 and 2021 taking the team title their program as an established legacy of success in Huntsville. This team is led by senior Julian Olivier and Joseph Villegas who both had personal best at district. It also should be noted that Giddings had a program-best 5th-place finish at state last year

The 3-8 team positions could all be toss-ups as most of these teams are interchangeable

Burnet- Coming off a district win Burnet should be a great contender in the spots for state. We have them rounding out the podium position because of their win in the district. This team has been very close the last couple of years but the depth of the team has only increased. Being led by Juniors Victor Aviles (4A 800 Meter State Champion) and Isaias Zarate they should be a team to watch out for.

Huffman-Hargrave- Rounding out the team picks we have Huffman-Hargrave clinching the last state qualifier position. Having two championships and one runner-up in their resume certainly helps solidify the pick. We think that this young team should be seen as the wildcard. Last year going into regionals they were ranked 5th and they ended up winning. Who knows what to expect from this team? Being led by Junior Andres Rios and Sophomore Anthony Zuniga this team should keep their state streak alive.

Sleeper Picks- Marble Falls, Gatesville, Hudson, Robinson

Individuals: Luke Anderson of Salado looks to be the front runner in this race but will be in a pack. Tyler Hamblin (Marble Falls), Coulson Boyd (Salado), Connor Graves (Hudson), and Victor Aviles (Burnet) will be right with him.

Sleepers: Nick Dahl, Sebastian Juarez, Justin Muegge, Salman Osman
