Texas Relays 1600m Champ Madie Boreman
Almost all the same girls that qualified for the 3200m qualified for the 1600m, with the exception of Marcus senior Maddy Reed and Smithson Valley's Kylie Welch. Reed slipped in with the at-large bid from Region 1, but comes in with the fourth-fastest time in the state with her 4:53.89 from Districts. Welch qualified in second from Region 4. Much like the 3200m, all the girls in this race will be fighting for first. The top two times in the state come from Madie Boreman (4:50.36) and Julia Heymach (4:50.36), while Kingwood's Abby Guidry has the third-fastest time with a 4:53.21. Heymach will look to repeat as state champion while Boreman will seek to reclaim it after winning as a freshman in 2013.
