Boys 3200m
This is going to be a tough race to win with last year's state runner-up Reed Brown and third-place finisher Sam Worley both on the line. The rest of the field is good, but these two guys will put on a show. We already saw a glimpse of it at Texas Relays, where the race went out a little slow with no one really wanting to step up and take it. But, when moves were made, they were covered by the pack. In the end, it came down to a move made by Worley to kick early enough to escape Brown's crazy kick. I don't think this race will come down to that-I think it's going to go out hard. I watched Brown race at both Districts and Areas, where he faced challenging competition from David Strome. But when Brown wanted the win, he went for it early to leave no doubt the race was his. This resulted in him soloing the fastest 1600m and 3200m times in the state of Texas this year. Then, there's Worley, who soloed a 4:09 1600m and 9:16.92 3200m to win his Region meet. Whether the winner is one of these two guys or not, we could see one of the first sub-nine 3200m runs out of the Texas state meet in a while.
