Girls 4x100m
After struggling in the relays at the lower levels last year, DeSoto has put all three relays on the starting line in 2016, and the girls 4x100m is by far their strongest. Early in the year at their home meet, they ran U.S. No. 12 All-Time (45.12), and they've been climbing up that all-time list all year. Most recently, they ran a 45.10 to win their region meet. They're looking primed to repeat as state champions, but it is a relay, and anything can happen if the baton gets a mind of its own. You've got to watch out for last year's third-place finishers Cypress Springs, who dominated in the Houston area all year and will look to get another shot at DeSoto after a fourth-place finish at Texas Relays. Also not to be counted out are Texas relays champs Cedar Hill and last year's runner-ups Converse Judson, who could pop off in a packed field.
