Boys 4x400m
The 2015 state champs (Kingwood) and runner-up team (Manvel) will not be back this year. In fact, the only two teams making repeat appearances are Converse Judson (fifth) and San Antonio Reagan (eighth), so we'll see some new blood on the podium this year (or on the track if there's a dive to the finish again, which could very well happen). Texas has the top five fastest 4x400m teams in the country this year, and eight of them are in the top 10, so this is going to be a good one! Arlington Bowie comes in with a scorching 3:12.31, which they ran at Texas Relays (the only teams they lost to all year are Lancaster (by a hair) and Arlington Martin, three times). They proved they can put on a show and perform well in front of a crowd while the pressure is on. If I had to guess, we can expect much the same from them again this time around. We will also need to watch DeSoto, Katy Tompkins and Pearland Dawson, who have all dropped 3:13s this year. As the only guys' team to qualify all three relay teams, DeSoto will look for as many points as they can get out of this one.
