Girls 400m
Mariah Kuykendoll
Just like in the 800m, we can't count out defending state champion Aaliyah Miller. She dropped a 54.31 to win state in 2015. She hasn't run that fast this year, but she's only run the event five times. In March at the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays, she ran a smooth 54.65 on a cold, windy day. It will be interesting to see her back in action against the best girls in the state. Her biggest competition will come from Spring DeKaney's Natashia Jackson. Jackson has the third-fastest time in the state, a 54.17 from Districts, and finished third last year at state. Mariah Kuykendoll and Geneva Meintzer will also be serious contenders as they come in with the fourth- and fifth-fastest times in the state, respectively.
