Meet Preview: Region III Championships

Region 3-5A Girls

College Stations A&M Cons are entering the meet as the heavy favorites coming into the regional championships. Coach Branch and his team have built their resume as the season progressed. 

The Georgetown Eagles are looking to return to where they were a few years ago when it comes to dominance, they'll be led by junior Melia Flowers who has a personal best time of 18:48.00. 

The third through fourth place team to move to the state meet will be a great battle to witness.

Teams like Friendswood have qualified for the state meet year after year and will be in the mix, they're led by junior Addison Sapp who has a personal best time of 19:11.70. 

Montgomery is coming in hot as well, they're led by a strong front three, senior Lauren Semeniuk, junior Ava Harvey, and junior Cecilia Paterno

Georgetown East View has entered the conversation, they're led by senior Sierra Harrell who has a personal best time of 18:49.00. 

Lake Creek girls are a team that's not just great in the 4x800m... they have been putting up good numbers all season as well, they're led by senior Brooke Marshall who has a personal best of 19:21.97. 

Top 5A Girls Individual 

Coming into the individual side Eva Cragnolino is coming in with the fastest time individually with a time of 18:35.2.

Sophomore Morgan Nelsen is also coming in with a fast time of 18:40.00. 

Junior Morgan Campbell of Port Neches Grove High School has run a season best of 19:03.0 and has qualified for the state meet the past two years. 

Cindy Ramirez, a sophomore from College Station is coming in red hot with a personal best time of 19:36.19. 

Katherine Canchola of Iowa Colony has been lighting up the cross country course since she moved up from 4A the senior has run a personal best in the 5k with a time of 19:33.61 seconds.

Senior and half-miler extraordinaire, Faith Murphy of Austin Anderson is coming in with a time of 19:44.20 set last month.

Region 3-5A Boys 

College Station boys are looking to punch their ticket to the UIL state meet. They're led by senior Vance Ballabina who has a personal best time of 15:42.13.

Friendswood boys are also looking to make another trip to the state meet they're led by junior Aiden Fitzgerald who has a personal best time of 15:19.5.

Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill is looking to qualify for the state me for the first time in a long time. Luckily, they have the firepower of senior Aiden Faz who has a season best of 15:58.70. 

Fourth place just like the girl side is going to be a good one.

One team in particular College Station A&M Cons is looking to keep a tradition going and qualify for the state me once again, just like how they did in the past. Senior Ben Moran is leading the team with a personal best time of 16:21.61.

Montgomery boys are also looking to qualify for the state meet senior Matthew Binkley is leading the boys with his time of 15:43.00 that he ran earlier this year, back in early September at the region three preview meet. 

Georgetown boys are no team to be messed with as well. The Eagles have qualified for the state me year after year and are looking to keep the tradition flowing Junior Zachary Magnum is leading the flock of eagles, with his personal best of 15:31.00

One team in particular who is looking to bounce back is Georgetown Eastview. They did after all beat their district counterparts Georgetown by one point so they're looking to keep the ball rolling coming into state. 

Top 5A Boys Individual 

Junior Jaxon Asbill of Dayton is coming in with a blazing time for 15:33.98 set earlier in September at the Region Three preview, he is looking to be a contender to take the individual title.

Senior Elijah Merino of Humble Kingwood Park is also looking to contend for the individual gold medal with his time of 15:36.39 ran last month at the Klein ISD XC invitational.

Senior Amisadai Yanez of Texas City has a personal best time of 15:40.31 set at his district meet. He also qualified for the state meet last year and is looking to continue his quest by moving on to the state meet.

Senior Cole Gildersleeve of Lake Creek is looking to continue the tradition of keeping the Lake Creek program of always having a presence at the state meet, Gildersleeve has a personal best time of 15:46.00. 

Junior Colby Huntress of Austin Anderson is looking to book his ticket to the state meet with his personal best time of 15:49.40 in late August at the Vista Ridge cross country invitational.
