Boys 4x200m
Defending state champs Port Arthur Memorial will not be present this year after a tough fourth-place in the 4x200m relay at the region meet. We will definitely have to watch for them in the 4x100m relay, as I know they'll be hungry for a podium place. Two teams have run 1:24 splits this year: Manvel (second in 2015) and Benjamin Davis (third in 2015). They are two of four teams in class 6A who dropped seed times below 1:25 to qualify. The other two are DeSoto and Mansfield from Region 1. Like on the girls side, this will be a crucial relay for DeSoto to get the win in if they want the team title. Last year, they were absent in this event due to injuries from Trevin Chambers and London Dunn. This year, Mansfield has been a thorn in their side-they dropped a U.S. No. 6 time of 1:24.85 to qualify first out of Region 1. With those four teams all sub-1:25 and many more solid competitors in the mix, we're going to have a fast race on our hands.
